Where is Shiva?

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
In this vast universe, Shiva, the timeless and boundless energy, permeates through every aspect of creation. It transcends time and space, encompassing the beginning, the end, and every moment in between.
Shiva is all-inclusive
Often, we are condescending towards those younger or less knowledgeable than us. Similarly, we dismiss the wisdom of the elderly, considering them outdated and ignorant. But we need to recognize that divinity resides within every heart, regardless of intelligence, age, or disposition. By acknowledging the Shiva principle within everyone, equanimity arises within us, making us one with Shiva.
The Rishis, the wise seers of ancient times, did not exclude anyone from being a part of Shiva. Shiva, the all-encompassing one declares, ‘I am everywhere.’ This essence resonates throughout the Vedas. Vedanta, on the other hand, represents unlearning, going beyond the boundaries of knowledge. It speaks of that which is beyond duality, beyond good and evil, revealing the non-dual reality that lies at the core of existence.
Is God omnipresent?
The concept of God's omnipresence has raised intriguing questions since time immemorial. If God is truly omnipresent, where does evil reside? Theologians have grappled with this dilemma for centuries. If God is omnipotent, how can there be a force challenging Him? The answer lies in understanding that God encompasses everything, including evil. The Vedanta philosophy transcends the limitations of duality, inviting us to embrace the non-dual truth beyond good and evil.
Wisdom alone cannot uplift our consciousness
Knowledge devoid of experience is like riding a donkey without reaching our destination. We must realize that we are not limited individuals but an integral part of the divine. Shiva, like space, remains unaffected by day and night, joy and sorrow. He dwells within us, offering protection from within. Just as waking from a nightmare reminds us that we are safe, listening to Sri Rudram serves as a wake-up call to our real nature which is divine.
Rituals alone cannot elevate us. True elevation comes from inner transformation, simplicity, and recognizing our connection with the divine. The beauty of Shiva's presence lies in embracing diversity. Just as the sun shines equally on all surfaces, Shiva encompasses everything—muddy puddles, lush forests, deserts, and mountains. He resides in the wicked and the virtuous alike. His all-encompassing love is unconditional, accepting everyone as they are.
The enemy within
The enemy within are the tendencies that hinder our growth. By connecting with Shiva, these internal foes dissolve, and external challenges are taken care of. We have two choices in dealing with enemies: taking it upon ourselves to eradicate them or trusting that God will handle them. Shiva's presence extends to every realm of existence. He is the healer of our souls, the protector of the Devas, the giver of joy in this world and the next. He is present in every creature, in every thought, and in every spirit. Shiva is the medicine and the doctor too, who detoxifies our poisoned minds and uplifts us.
In the symphony of life, let us celebrate the diversity of existence, for within that rich fabric of creation lies the omnipresent Shiva. Embracing this truth, we find inner harmony and become one with the divine essence that permeates all creation.
