AIF expresses concern over exclusion of key Tribal Welfare officials from High Powered Committee

Jammu, June 07 (KIP)-Today, All India Confederation of SC, ST & OBC Organizations expressed serious concern over non-inclusion of Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge of Tribal Affairs and Administrative Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department in the recently reconstituted High Powered Vigilance & Monitoring Committee. The mandate of this Committee is to oversee the implementation of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 as per Government Order No. 670-JK(GAD)2025 dated 04.06.2025 issued by General Administration Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu.

R.K. Kalsotra (State President Confederation) criticized the imbalance in the composition of the Committee and demanded immediate amendment to ensure proper representation by including Tribal Minister and Administrative Secretary in the Commission. He further said that on forming the committee, he appreciated the cadre and of the Confederation who, along with the cadre, met all the LGs and Chief Secretaries several times after the abrogation of 370 and recently gheraoed the assembly on 24 March 2025 and also talked about the formation of SC ST committee! The demands were strongly supported by the leaders of the federation, including Ramesh Sarmal (Vice President), Engineer B.L. Bhardwaj (General Secretary), R.C. Uttam (General Secretary), Dr. Ramesh Kaith (Secretary), Roop Lal Bhagat (Retired ZDO, President Confederation Kishtwar), and DOMA representatives Ashu Peter Mattoo and Kuldeep Singh.
