Srinagar, July 17 (KIP)- In continuation of public outreach and legal awareness initiatives, Police in Handwara organized an awareness programme on the newly enacted criminal laws at Boys Higher Secondary School Langate.

The event was attended by a large gathering of students, teachers, and staff members. The programme was aimed at educating the youth about key provisions and reforms introduced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which recently replaced the colonial-era criminal laws.

The programme was presided over by DySP PC Headquarters Handwara who addressed the participants and highlighted the major changes brought by the new laws, particularly those pertaining to public safety, citizen rights, police procedures, and trial reforms.

The speakers in their interaction with the students emphasized the importance of being legally aware in a progressive democracy. They encouraged students to become informed citizens and act as ambassadors of legal literacy in their communities.

The staff of BHSS Langate appreciated the initiative of Handwara Police and expressed their gratitude for organizing such an informative session. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively participated and cleared their doubts.

Police remains committed to community engagement and legal awareness as part of its citizen-centric policing approach.
