Second Phase of Mock Drill Exercise on Earthquake Conducted Successfully

at Sub-District Hospital Diskit

Nubra, August 22 (KIP)-Following the successful landslide preparedness exercise earlier in the day the administration of Nubra conducted the second phase of the Mock Drill Exercise this time focusing on Earthquake Response and Management. The exercise was held at the Sub-District Hospital Diskit under the overall supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Mukul Beniwal(IAS) with the aim of testing the readiness of health facilities, emergency services, and disaster response teams in case of a major earthquake.
The staging area for the exercise was established at COVID Centre and Dak Bangla Diskit, where response teams assembled with all necessary equipment and manpower. An Emergency Control Room was set up at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office which functioned as the nerve center for coordination, communication, and monitoring of the earthquake scenario.
As part of the Incident Response System activation SDM Nubra Mukul Beniwal acted as the Incident Commander while Tehsildar Diskit Tufail Iqbal served as Deputy Incident Commanders. Other designated officers of various Departments were mobilized to perform their assigned roles.
During the exercise, a simulated earthquake scenario was enacted at the Sub-District Hospital Diskit. Patients and hospital staff were evacuated in an orderly manner to designated safe zones. Rescue teams carried out search and evacuation drills inside the hospital premises, retrieving stranded patients and providing them with first-aid support at the staging area. Those with serious injuries were shifted to alternative treatment facilities for advanced care.
