Ladakh Police organizes Two-Day Exhibition on the New Criminal Laws

Leh, September 01 (KIP)-A two-day exhibition on the three New Criminal Laws was organized by Ladakh Police today which was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, in the presence of Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal (IAS), Director General of Police, Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal (IPS) and Dy. CEC LAHDC-Leh Tsering Angchuk at the Auditorium Hall of the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), Leh.
Highlighting the significance of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) in strengthening the Criminal Justice System, the event showcased the role of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), comprising its five key pillars: Police, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Prosecution, Judiciary and Prisons.
A skit was presented during the event depicting the entire sequence of crime investigation and justice delivery, covering Scene of Crime, Dial 112, Police Station ,Hospital, FSL, Prosecution, Judiciary and Prisons while explaining the relevant provisions of the Three New Laws. The skit also demonstrated various technological advancements such as e-FIR, e-Sakshya, NAFIS, Medleapr, e-Prosecution, e-FSL, Nyay Shruti, and others, all of which are intrinsic parts of the ICJS platform ensuring seamless data and information transfer among the five pillars.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP Ladakh, Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal (IPS), underlined the success stories of Ladakh Police in implementing the three New Criminal Laws and the ICJS platform. He stated with pride that Ladakh is the first Union Territory to implement Medleapr after the enactment of the New Laws. Reiterating Ladakh Police’s commitment to providing a speedy and transparent Justice Delivery System, he assured that the force will continue to adopt the latest technologies to effectively tackle emerging trends in crime.
Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal (IAS), appreciated the efforts of the Home Department and Ladakh Police in implementing the three New Criminal Laws. He stated that all directions issued by MHA and BPR&D have been meticulously put in place, making Ladakh one of the forerunners in implementation across the Country. He also briefed the Hon’ble LG about the ongoing recruitment process for various posts under each pillar of the ICJS.
Following the skit, dignitaries visited the exhibition stalls set up by Police, FSL, Prosecution and Prisons where representatives explained the technological advancements under ICJS along with key provisions of the New Laws.
Besides the Lieutenant Governor, the programme was attended by the First Lady Bindu Gupta, Administrative Secretaries of the UT Administration, prominent heads of Religious, Social and Political Organizations, Vice- Chancellors of University of Ladakh and CIBS; Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Principal and Sessions Judge, Leh; Directors of various Departments; Officers of the Civil Secretariat and District Administration; Officers of Ladakh Police; President, Bar Association, Leh; staff and students of EJM College; Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Leh; Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Leh and CIBS-Leh.
The event began with a welcome address by In-charge DIG, Leh-Kargil Range, Vikas Kumar (IPS), who gave a detailed briefing on the three New Laws and the ICJS platform. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by AIG CIV PHQ Ladakh, Kacho Ishtyaq AA Khan (JKPS).
