Gandhi Global Family celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with Indian High Commissioner at Tavistock Square, London

London, October 02 (KIP)- The 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was commemorated at Tavistock Square, London, in a solemn ceremony organised by the High Commission of India, attended by dignitaries, members of the Indian diaspora, Gandhi Global Family delegates and community representatives.
The ceremony featured Councillor Anjana Patel, Mayor of the London Borough of Harrow, as a guest speaker who praised Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring legacy and highlighted how his teachings shaped the moral and social values of generations in the UK.
On this occasion, Ms. Manya Joshi presented a specially created portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, prepared by special students of Lawrence Public School, Jammu to Shri Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to the UK, and Shri Deepak Choudhary, Minister (Coordination) Indian High Commission UK.
The event was led by High Commissioner Shri Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, accompanied by Shri Kartik Pande, Deputy High Commissioner, senior officials including Shri Deepak Choudhary, Minister (Coordination) Indian High Commission UK.
This year’s Gandhi Jayanti coincided with Dussehra, amplifying the symbolism of the triumph of good over evil. Even after the recent vandalism of the Gandhi statue in London, everyone present stood with heads held high, reaffirming that Gandhiji’s ideals cannot be destroyed, and that love, truth, and non-violence continue to prevail.
The members of Gandhi Global Family delegation headed by Ms. Manya Joshi interacted with the dignitaries & highlighted the projects undertaken by various units of Gandhi Global Family in various countries promoting Gandhian ideology of Truth & Non Violence, under the able leadership of its President Padmabushan Ghulam Nabi Azad & Vice President Padmashri Dr. S P Varma.
The commemoration concluded with a monk-led prayer for peace, followed by bhajans sung by students, uniting all present in a shared resolve to carry forward his timeless legacy.
