J&K Police conducts inspection of SIM vendors to prevent SIM misuse

Srinagar, November 07 (KIP)-In a continued effort to strengthen internal security and prevent the misuse of mobile communication services, J&K Police conducted special inspections of SIM card vendors in Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Sopore, Awantipora & Handwara.

In Shopian, Police have launched a massive district-wide crackdown on the illegal issuance of SIM cards. The special drive, was carried out under the supervision of SSP Shopian Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, focuses on identifying and taking action against unscrupulous vendors issuing SIM cards without adhering to mandatory verification procedures a malpractice posing serious threats to both public safety and national security. During the operation, police teams carried out surprise inspections at multiple telecom outlets across the district.

In Ganderbal, Police conducted surprise raids at various SIM card vendor outlets across the district. The operation was carried out under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal–JKPS, with the objective of verifying the authenticity of SIM issuance and preventing the circulation of fake or fraudulently obtained SIM cards that could potentially be misused for unlawful activities. During the inspections, police teams thoroughly scrutinized customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by the vendors in the Jurisdiction of P/S Ganderbal, P/S Kheerbawani, P/S Safapora, P/S Lar, P/S Gund and PP Shadipora. The drive also aimed to ensure strict compliance with guidelines and procedures by all service providers and their retailers.

In Pulwama, Police carried out a comprehensive verification drive of SIM vendors across the district. The drive was aimed at curbing any possible misuse of SIM cards and ensuring that all vendors operate strictly within the framework of law. During the verification, police teams visited multiple SIM sale outlets and franchise points across different areas of the district.

In Anantnag, Police today launched a massive crackdown across the District. Multiple teams carried out simultaneous inspections of SIM card vendors at various locations to ensure strict adherence to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) guidelines. The special drive focused on verifying customer documentation, KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures, and vendor licensing compliance to prevent fraudulent issuance of SIM cards. During the inspections, vendors were sensitized about their legal obligations and were categorically warned that any negligence or violation of regulatory norms would invite stern legal action.

In Sopore, Police launched a coordinated crackdown across the Police District. Multiple teams conducted simultaneous inspections of SIM vendors at various locations to ensure strict compliance with Department of Telecommunications (DoT) guidelines.

In Awantipora, J&K Police headed by SDPOs along with SHOs and Incharge Police Post concerned, today launched a massive verification drive and searches on SIM card vendors across the Police District to prevent misuse of SIM cards for unlawful and anti-social activities During the drive, police teams carried out detailed inspections, raids, and verification checks at various SIM sale outlets. The objective of the operation was to ensure that SIM vendors strictly adhere to guidelines, and that the documentation process for issuing new SIM cards is transparent and legitimate.

In Handwara, Police conducted a special checking drive of SIM vendors across Handwara, Qalamabad, Kralgund, and Vilgam areas of Police District Handwara. The drive was carried out under the close supervision of senior police officers, during which multiple SIM selling outlets were inspected to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and law enforcement directives.

J&K Police reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding national and public security, preventing misuse of digital infrastructure, and maintaining continuous vigilance against any activities that threaten peace and stability.
