Police solve hit-and-run case in Kulgam; Accused arrested

Srinagar, November 20 (KIP)-Police in Kulgam have solved a hit-and-run case by arresting the accused person involved in the incident and seizing the vehicle used in the commission of the crime.

On 07/11/2025, Police Station Kulgam received information about a road accident near Town Hall Kulgam, wherein an unknown motorcyclist hit and injured a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohd Shah resident of Khandipora. The injured person was immediately shifted to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment, where from he was referred to Srinagar for further treatment but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 122/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated.

Acting promptly, a Police team led by SHO Police Station Kulgam, under the supervision of DySP HQRS Kulgam, launched a sustained investigation to trace the unknown driver. During the investigation, Police took assistance of modern techniques, including analysis of CCTV footage from various locations. Through meticulous examination, the team successfully zeroed in on a suspected vehicle and after hectic efforts, the accused driver was identified and arrested. He has been identified as Abrar Tariq son of Tariq Ahmad Lone resident of Kanipora. The vehicle (Bullet Motorcycle) bearing registration number JK18C-1643 involved in the accident has also been seized.
