J&K Police organise awareness programme on New Criminal Laws in Sopore

Srinagar, December 22 (KIP)-J&K Police organised an awareness programme on New Criminal Laws at Dak Bungalow Sopore as part of ongoing efforts to familiarise stakeholders with recent legal reforms. The programme was chaired by SDPO Sopore Shri M. R. Shah, while Additional Public Prosecutor, Sessions Court Sopore, Shri Muzamil Rashid participated as the resource person.

During the programme, detailed deliberations were held on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Shri Muzamil Rashid highlighted the key changes, important provisions, and practical implications of the new criminal laws, followed by an interactive discussion.

Addressing the gathering, SDPO Sopore emphasized the importance of understanding the new legal framework and its role in strengthening justice delivery, transparency, and accountability. He underlined that awareness and correct implementation of the new laws are essential for effective policing and public confidence.

The programme witnessed participation from police officers, legal professionals, and members of the public. The initiative forms part of J&K Police’s continued efforts to promote legal awareness and ensure smooth transition to the new criminal justice system.
