Jammu, December 28 (KIP)-The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday organised โ€œRun for Unityโ€ Jammu Marathonโ€“2025 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, under its Civic Action Programme.
2. Sh. M. K. Sinha, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), PHQ J&K, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, highlighted the vital role of sports in the physical and mental development of youth. He stated that sporting activities inculcate discipline, comradeship, and a spirit of unityโ€”qualities that are essential for the overall progress and prosperity of the nation.
3. Sh. Sinha further stated that the J&K Police has been consistently organising sports and community-oriented events in the winter capital under its Civic Action Programme, which have received an overwhelming response, particularly from the youth. The primary objective of these initiatives, is to identify and nurture sporting talent while promoting a healthy, positive, and disciplined lifestyle.
4. He appreciated the ADG Armed and his team for organising the marathon in a smooth, professional, and befitting manner.
5. The marathon witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 8,000 runners, including men, women, and children in the age group of 8 to 70 years. Participants included students from various educational institutions, members of sports bodies, Police and senior citizens,
6. The flagging-off ceremony commenced at 7:30 a.m. The marathon passed through various routes of the city before culminating at the starting venue. Large crowds lined the route, cheering and motivating the runners, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere throughout the event.
7. At the conclusion of the marathon, winners in different categories were awarded cash prizes and certificates by the ADG Headquarters, who also presided over the prize distribution ceremony. All participants were presented with T-shirts, finishing medals, and refreshments.
8. Earlier, Shri Anand Jain, IPS,Chairman of the event, briefed the gathering on the aims and objectives of the event, emphasising unity, fitness, and community participation.
