MVD, Ayush Department organise free medical camp for drivers
cleaners and transporters at Drabshalla

Kisthwar, January 03 (KIP)- To promote the health and well-being of the transporter community and as part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2026, a free medical checkup camp was today held at BDO Office Drabshalla for drivers and cleaners including drivers engaged at the Ratle Hydro Electric Power Project.
The camp was organised by Motor Vehicle Department Kishtwar under the supervision of ARTO Tasleem Wani and in collaboration with the Health & Ayush Department with the support of Traffic Police and J&K Police Drabshalla.
About 150 drivers and cleaners availed free medical check-up and health screening conducted by trained medical staff. The beneficiaries were also provided free medicines.
Dr Varun, Dr Shabir and Vidya Lal, Pharmacist examined the patients in presence of MVI Robin Parihar; DTI Karan Singh; Sub-Inspector Deepak Mandlia and other officials.
Rapid drug tests of 70 drivers were also conducted during the camp along with imparting awareness on safe driving practices and hazards of drug abuse. Besides, the dumper drivers engaged with the Ratle Power Project were directed to drive at limited speed, carry material within the permissible limit and dump the material at designated sites only.
The ARTO underscored the importance of drivers as major stakeholders in road safety and the need for conducting their regular health check-up. He emphasised that ensuring the physical fitness of drivers not only safeguards their personal health but also contributes to overall road safety.
He thanked the CMO and District Officer Ayush as well as DTI, Sub-Inspector Police Post Drabshalla and the transporters of Drabshalla for providing the necessary support for the success of the programme.
