Jammu, January 03 (KIP)- The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Rattan Lal Gupta, today interacted with party functionaries of ST, SC and OBC from Udhampur District at the party’s provincial headquarter, Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu.
Gupta listened attentively to the concerns raised by these party functionaries and assured them that the NC is actively working on its manifesto, with a focus on ensuring equitable development and efficient administration, particularly for marginalized sections of society. "The National Conference has always prioritized the empowerment of underprivileged communities, and we are committed to implementing policies that ensure they receive their due share of opportunities, basic services, and development," Gupta stated. "We are fully focused on improving the delivery of civic amenities and utility services to these communities, addressing their concerns in a way that will foster real change."
Gupta also took a moment to highlight the achievements of the previous NC-led government under Omar Abdullah, emphasizing the lasting positive impact of key initiatives on the backward communities. "Omar Abdullah's government was a pioneer in driving social justice measures. The extra ration provided during times of need, particularly to marginalized groups, made a significant difference in alleviating hardships. The restoration of the Darbar Move to Jammu was another step towards balancing administrative accessibility and ensuring the equal development of both regions," said Gupta.
He further highlighted the Land to Tiller program, a transformative measure that directly benefited the SC, ST, OBC, and other backward classes by granting them land ownership rights. "The Land to Tiller initiative, coupled with other progressive measures, has empowered marginalized communities by providing them access to land, which was previously out of their reach. This has not only ensured economic security for them but has also opened doors for social mobility through agriculture and farming," Gupta explained.
Gupta also pointed to the broad array of pro-poor measures introduced under Omar Abdullah's leadership, including subsidized access to essential services like healthcare and education. "These initiatives not only provided immediate relief but laid a foundation for long-term empowerment, giving marginalized communities the tools they need to thrive," he added.
Reaffirming the NC's commitment to social justice, Gupta concluded, "We are committed to continuing these efforts to uplift the marginalized sections of society. Our goal is to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has access to equal opportunities, fair policies, and the basic services that they need to succeed."
