National Panchayati Raj Day Observed Across Kargil District

Kargil, April 24 (KIP)- National Panchayati Raj Day was observed across various Panchayats of Kargil district with enthusiasm and active public participation, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening grassroots democracy.

The day was marked by the organisation of programmes at various blocks, including TSG, Apati-Sodh, Lotsum, Barsoo, Shargole and Kargil, as well as in Bhimbat, Chowkiyal, Shakar, Rambirpura, Pandrass, Mushkoo, Holiyal, Taisuru and Pashkum Panchayats.

Gram Sabhas, awareness sessions, and interactive discussions were conducted focusing on key developmental issues, including water management, employment generation, and implementation of rural development schemes.

Officials and Panchayat representatives highlighted the significance of Panchayati Raj Institutions in ensuring participatory governance, transparency, and accountability. Emphasis was laid on community involvement in planning and execution of developmental initiatives.

During the program, the following activities took place: Residents were briefed on the significance of the Panchayati Raj system and its role in local governance. Several local issues and grievances were heard and addressed. The participants took a formal oath to contribute to the development and integrity of the Panchayat. The session saw active participation from the local community.

On the occasion, pledges were administered to promote cleanliness and hygiene, and dustbins were distributed under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) to strengthen sanitation efforts at the grassroots level.

The celebrations concluded with a collective resolve to work towards sustainable development, improved service delivery, and inclusive growth across the district.
