Y4PK Apex Committee Reaffirms Margdarshan Resolution 1991
Rejects Attempts to Dilute the Truth of Kashmiri Hindu Genocide
18/06/2026
Jammu, June 17 (KIP)-The Apex Committee of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK) convened an important meeting today to discuss recent attempts being made in the name of "Heritage Tourism" and the convention held at SKICC, Srinagar. The Committee unanimously expressed serious concern over what it described as a growing effort to normalize the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus through carefully crafted narratives, symbolic events and selective representations that seek to replace truth with public relations exercises.
The Committee strongly condemned the SKICC convention, terming it a travesty of truth and an exercise in genocide denial. It observed that while thousands of Kashmiri Hindu families continue to live in exile and await justice, certain groups have chosen to project an illusion of normalcy by promoting nostalgia, tourism and social engagements while deliberately avoiding the central issue of genocide, displacement and the denial of fundamental rights to the indigenous Hindu community of Kashmir.
Rahul Kaul, Chairman of the Apex Committee, stated that no amount of heritage tourism, curated visits, cultural showcases or elite conferences can erase the reality of what happened to Kashmiri Hindus in 1989-90. He said that exile cannot be converted into a tourism opportunity and genocide cannot be buried under carefully managed narratives designed to manufacture consent and create a false impression of reconciliation.
Vithal Chowdhary, President of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, said that the community must remain vigilant against every attempt to dilute the historical truth of the genocide. He stated that the ongoing efforts to project normalcy while ignoring the conditions that led to the exodus amount to a betrayal of the struggle and sacrifices of an entire generation of Kashmiri Hindus. He further observed that the community's aspirations cannot be negotiated away through conclaves, networking events or symbolic gestures that fail to address the political and security concerns of the displaced population.
The Apex Committee unanimously reaffirmed its commitment to the historic Margdarshan Resolution of 1991, describing it as the only document that has stood the test of time and continues to represent the collective aspirations of the displaced community. The Committee emphasized that any discussion on the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus must be guided by the principles enshrined in the Margdarshan Resolution and not by narratives crafted to suit changing political conveniences.
Digamber Raina, General Secretary of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, stated that the Margdarshan Resolution remains the foundational document of the Kashmiri Hindu movement and continues to provide a clear framework for justice, security and dignified rehabilitation. He said that no individual, organization or convention possesses the moral authority to dilute or bypass the principles that have guided the community's struggle for more than three decades.
The Committee further warned against attempts to create confusion within the community through selective representation and manufactured legitimacy. It observed that the future of Kashmiri Hindus cannot be decided by a handful of individuals claiming to speak on behalf of a displaced civilization while remaining disconnected from the aspirations of the larger community.
Rohit Ravi Bhat, Treasurer, Sunil Raina, Vice President, Rajesh Kachroo, Organising Secretary, and Sahil Pandita, Coordinator Jammu & Kashmir, jointly stated that the community must remain united in defending the truth of the genocide and resisting all efforts aimed at normalizing exile without justice. They reiterated that any meaningful resolution of the Kashmiri Hindu question must address security, political empowerment, constitutional safeguards and the establishment of conditions that ensure the community never faces another genocide in its homeland.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution calling upon Kashmiri Hindus across the world to remain vigilant, reject narratives of genocide denial, strengthen awareness regarding the Margdarshan Resolution of 1991 and continue the collective struggle for justice, dignity and the realization of the long-standing aspirations of the displaced community.
