Sakeena Itoo, Nasir Aslam Wani review progress on strengthening academic profile
development activities of Kashmir University’s campus at Wayan Kupwara

Srinagar, August 08 (KIP)-Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, today reviewed the progress on strengthening the academic profile and development activities of Kashmir University’s campus at Wayan Kupwara
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof. Nilofer Khan; Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Ram Niwas Sharma; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Registrar Kashmir University, senior officers of education department and other concerned officers of district administration Kupwara, either in person or through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Minister and the Advisor took a detailed review of the ongoing works, academic infrastructure, institutional requirements and other issues related for the development of the campus.
The meeting also discussed measures for strengthening the campus as a prominent centre of higher education in the north Kashmir region, with emphasis on providing quality and accessible academic opportunities to students of Kupwara and adjoining areas.
The Minister stressed on the need for expediting all pending works and ensuring coordinated efforts among the concerned departments and university authorities for timely completion of the required infrastructure. She underscored that the campus should be equipped with adequate academic, administrative and student-support facilities to cater effectively to the growing educational needs of the region.
The Minister also directed the stakeholder departments to remove all kind of bottlenecks regarding further development and expansion of the campus. She also directed the VC Kashmir to conduct on-field visit of the campus and take stock of ongoing development works.
The Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to sort out the issue of land allotment in synergy with DFO Kupwara.
Speaking in the meeting, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani highlighted the importance of the Kupwara campus in expanding access to higher and professional education for students in the district. He called for close coordination between all stakeholders and timely resolution of issues affecting the campus’s development.
He also emphasised on strengthening the academic profile of the campus by introducing relevant, employment-oriented and professional courses in accordance with local requirements and emerging opportunities.
During the meeting, VC Kashmir University, Prof. Nilofer Khan gave a detailed presentation on the progress on strengthening the academic activities of campus at Wayan Kupwara.
