Newly Elected Body of Jammu Psychiatric Society

Jammu, September 06 (KIP)- The Jammu Psychiatric Society (JPS), affiliated with the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), has elected its new body during the General Body Meeting of the Society.
Dr. Rajinder Kumar has been elected as the President of the Jammu Psychiatric Society, while Dr. Shaveta Bhagat has been elected Vice-President. Dr. Rohit Jasrotia has been elected General Secretary and Dr. Gaurav Sanmotra as Treasurer.
Dr. Sukrita Sharma has been elected as the Spokesperson and Media Coordinator, while Dr. Preeti Kaur and Dr. Nahida Mohd. have been elected as Joint Secretaries.
The newly elected body also includes Dr. Harshit Hemant Salian, Dr. Nikhil Gupta, Dr. Varun Gupta, Dr. Roopika Jandial, Dr. Samreen Kour and Dr. Pranvi Gupta as Executive Members.
The elections were conducted during the General Body Meeting of the Jammu Psychiatric Society in the presence and guidance of senior psychiatrists, including Dr. U. K. Mehta, Dr. Jagdish Raj Thappa, Dr. Manu Arora (Head of Department of Psychiatry, Government Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, GMC Jammu), Dr. Manmeet Singh (Head of the Department of Psychiatry, ASCOMS Jammu) and Dr. Rakesh Banal (Associate Professor, Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, GMC Jammu).
The elections for the newly elected body were held under the patronage and guidance of senior psychiatrists Dr. U.K. Mehta, Dr. Jagdish Raj Thappa and Dr. Rakesh Banal.
The newly elected members pledged to take the Jammu Psychiatric Society to newer heights through unity, professionalism, academic excellence and meaningful public engagement. The new team expressed its commitment towards strengthening psychiatric services, promoting academic and professional development, enhancing mental-health awareness and addressing the unmet needs and existing gaps in mental healthcare across the region.
The newly elected body further emphasised the importance of working collectively to strengthen the voice of psychiatry, foster professional collaboration and ensure that mental health remains an integral part of the healthcare and public-health agenda.
