DC Kargil Chairs NCORD Meeting to Step Up Anti-Drug Efforts

Kargil, September 12 (KIP)-Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) mechanism at the Conference Hall, Baroo.
SSP Kargil, ADC Kargil, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Education Officer and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
The committee reviewed the prevailing trends in drug trafficking, progress in drug-related investigations and measures to strengthen awareness, particularly among students and youth.
The meeting also discussed strengthening drug detection mechanisms, promoting alternative development programmes and improving de-addiction and rehabilitation support for affected individuals.
Addressing the meeting, the DC directed all concerned departments to ensure strict and regular monitoring of drug-related activities and take proactive measures to curb the menace of substance abuse.
He emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders, with special focus on awareness among students and youth, strengthening preventive interventions and ensuring effective implementation of government programmes aimed at combating drug abuse.
The DC stressed upon all departments to work in close coordination and adopt sustained measures to address the challenge of substance abuse and safeguard the health, safety and future of the younger generation.
