Introductory-cum-Orientation Programme for Youth Interns under LG Yuva Internship Programme

Leh,September 25 (KIP)-An introductory-cum-orientation programme for youth interns allotted to the Department of Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, under the LG Yuva Internship Programme “Zhabstok Ladakh” was held today at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Leh.
The programme, launched by the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, aims to provide youth with practical exposure to government functioning, public administration, and the implementation of various government schemes and programmes. It seeks to enable interns to gain first-hand experience of the functioning of government departments.
The programme was chaired by Director, Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, Sh. Sonam Norbo, JKAS, in the presence of General Manager, DIC Leh, Sh. Jigmet Raftan, JKAS; OSD to Director/Functional Manager, DIC Leh, Sh. Mohd Zakiria; and other officers and officials of the department.
During the orientation, the youth interns were apprised of the role and functions of the Department of Industries & Commerce, its various wings and field offices, as well as major schemes and programmes being implemented for the promotion of industries, entrepreneurship, MSMEs, handicrafts, handloom, geology and mining, and other economic activities in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The interns were also briefed about their roles and responsibilities during the internship and encouraged to actively participate in departmental activities to gain meaningful practical experience through their engagement with various sections and offices.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on making the internship a learning-oriented and enriching experience for the participating youth, while providing them with an opportunity to understand public administration and contribute to the development initiatives of UT Ladakh.
