Sahitya Akademi, GCW Gandhi Nagar organise Literary Forum on Fictional World of Surinder Neer

Jammu, October 01(KIP)- A literary forum on the “Fictional World of Surinder Neer” was today organised here at the EDUSAT Hub, Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar. The event was jointly organized by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and the Language Club of the College under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The programme featured an engaging and detailed discussion on the creative oeuvre and literary contribution of renowned Punjabi writer Surinder Neer. Scholars, writers and literary enthusiasts deliberated upon various dimensions of fictional world, narrative craft, creative sensibility and literary expression of Neer. The participants appreciated the richness, originality and creative depth of her literary work.

A special academic session, focusing on the craft and creative world of Surinder Neer featured scholarly paper presentations by Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Kamaldeep Singh and Dr. Amanpreet Kour. The papers examined different aspects of Surinder Neer's creative writing, literary technique, fictional expression and contribution to Punjabi literature.

Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Professor Kulwinder Kaur expressed great satisfaction over the successful conduct of the literary forum. She said that the college would be pleased to continue hosting such meaningful literary and cultural activities in the future in collaboration with its Book Club and Language & Literary Club of the College.

The session was chaired by eminent Punjabi writer and Sahitya Akademi Award winner Khalid Hussain. He appreciated the initiative of the College and the Language Club in providing a meaningful platform where writers, artists, scholars, teachers and students can come together and engage in literary dialogue.

The proceedings were conducted by Head, Department of Punjabi Dr. Anuradha Sharma, while the programme was organised under the supervision of Head, Department of Urdu Dr. Liaqat Jafri. The event was hosted by the Language Club of the College, with the participation of the Departments of Sanskrit, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

The programme was attended by several academicians and members of the teaching fraternity including Dr. Bindu Chib, Dr. Vajinder Kumar, Dr. Tarsem, Dr. Tahira Shah, Dr. Balbeer, Dr. Varchskam Sharma, Dr. Poonam, Dr. Harminder Singh and Dr. Najam.

A number of prominent writers, artists and literary personalities also graced the occasion.
