Srinagar, November 04 (KIP)-As part of its continued efforts to promote cyber safety and responsible use of digital technology among students, police in Awantipora organised Cyber Awareness Programmes at Alchemy Public School, Tral, and Abu Turab School, Hariparigam.
During the awareness sessions, students were educated about various forms of cybercrime, including online financial frauds, phishing, fake links, social media-related threats, identity theft, cyberbullying and other emerging cyber threats.
They were also sensitised about the importance of maintaining strong passwords, protecting personal and financial information, avoiding suspicious links and exercising caution while interacting with unknown persons online. The students were advised to use social media and other digital platforms responsibly, refrain from sharing sensitive personal information and immediately report any suspicious online activity or cybercrime incident to the concerned authorities. Information regarding available cybercrime reporting mechanisms was also shared to encourage timely reporting and prevent people from falling victim to online frauds.
The programmes also provided students an opportunity to interact, discuss cyber-related issues and seek guidance on safe internet practices.
Police reiterated its commitment to organising such awareness initiatives in educational institutions to equip students with the necessary knowledge to identify, prevent and report cyber threats. Police remains committed to creating a cyber-aware and digitally secure society.
