Pawan Sharma Slams Government for Neglecting Dogri
Demands Teaching from Primary to University Level

Jammu, December 01 (KIP)- BJP State Secretary Pawan Sharma today strongly criticized the continuous neglect of the Dogri language by the Omar Abdullah government and demanded immediate steps to make Dogri compulsory from primary classes up to the university level. He said it is unacceptable that despite Dogri being listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the government has repeatedly failed to provide the required academic support and institutional backing.
Sharma said Dogri is the soul of Jammu’s cultural identity, yet successive NC-Congress-PDP governments have sidelined it in school curricula, teacher recruitment, higher education, and cultural promotion. He demanded mandatory Dogri teaching in schools, recruitment of qualified teachers, strengthening of Dogri departments in colleges and universities, and the creation of digital Dogri learning material.
He added that the NEP 2020 clearly emphasizes mother-tongue and regional languages, but Dogri continues to be ignored in implementation. “The youth of Jammu deserve access to their mother tongue. Government apathy toward Dogri must end now,” he said.
Appealing to the intellectuals and youth, Sharma urged them to join hands in promoting and protecting the language. He reaffirmed that the BJP will continue to press for full-scale institutionalization of Dogri education in Jammu & Kashmir.
