Nisar’s demise widely mourned

Srinagar, June 19 (KIP)- Senior Photojournalist Nisar Ahmad passed away on Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Nisar Ahmad, who was working with "The Hindu" newspaper, extensively covered Kashmir over the past three decades. He also contributed a much part of his life working for Kashmir's local media.

He had been admitted to SMHS hospital on Tuesday morning. He breathed his last at SMHS Hospital in the afternoon today,his family said.

Nisar Ahmad was not keeping well for past couple of years.


Various journalists’ organisations and political parties have condoled Ahmad’s demise.


Tarigami expressed grief and shock over the demise of Photo journalist Nisar Ahmad



CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed grief and shock over the sudden demise of senior photo journalist Nisar Ahmad associated with The Hindu news paper who breathed his last at SMHS Hospital Srinagar today morning after a brief illness.



Veteran journalist Ahmed Ali Fayyaz in a statement on a twitter said,
“Sadly, we have lost today an iconic photojournalist and a longtime professional colleague Nissar Ahmad who breathed his last at a hospital in Srinagar. Nissar Ahmad was an embodiment of all virtues who stood by his friends and colleagues through thick and thin in his 40-year-long career as a photojournalist. May Allah grant him the highest place in jannatul firdaus. Nissar's death is a personal loss to me. For about 28 years, he worked with the_Hindu in Jammu and Kashmir and rose to a high position. During my years as the Jammu & Kashmir bureau chief and Sr Asst Editor with The Hindu, he remained in a close association and camaraderie with me and I had a very positive and sweet experience of working with him.


Meanwhile, the Kashmir Press Photographers Association (KPPA) has expressed grief over the death of senior photojournalist Nasir Ahmad.

In a statement, the KPPA said that Nisar's passing away has left a vaccum in the photojournalistic circles of Kashmir.

The KPPA also expressed sympathy with Nisar's family and prayed to Almighty to grant a highest place to Nisar in the heaven and provide forberance to his bereaved family in this hour of grief.

CNS Editor-in-Chief Rasheed Rahi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

"I am speechless to know that Photojournalist Nisar Ahmad has died. He was a very noble person and a dedicated scribe who contributed immensely to the profession of Journalism by his tireless work. May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah and bestow forbearance to the bereaved family in this hour of grief," Rahi said.



Meanwhile, the Kashmir Press Photographers Association (KPPA) has expressed grief over the death of senior photojournalist Nasir Ahmad.

Editor in chief Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mohammad Aslam Bhat has condoled the demise of Nissar Ahmad

Bhat offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
