GDC Bishnah students shine at Inter-College Poetry recitation competition at Deptt of Punjabi,JU

Jammu, November 11 (KIP)-On November 11, 2024, to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Punjabi Sahit Sabha of the PG Department of Punjabi University, Jammu, organized an Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 25 students from various colleges across the Jammu region, who showcased their literary talents in poetry recitation.
The competition was honored by the presence of Padma Shree Mohan Singh, the eminent Dogri writer, who was the Chief Guest. The esteemed panel of judges included Dr. Vikram Singh Sahi, Chief Librarian at Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu, and S. Ajit Singh Mastana, a renowned Punjabi writer from Jammu & Kashmir.
Among the talented participants, Mr. Nikhil Lakhotra, a first-semester BA student from Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah, stood out by securing the third position in the prestigious competition. In addition to him, Mr. Nitin Lakhotra (also from BA Semester 1) and Ms. Simran Bhagat (BA Semester 3) earned consolation certificates for their impressive performances, reflecting the high level of dedication and talent nurtured at GDC Bishnah.
The success of the students was largely due to the mentorship and guidance provided by Prof. Shallu Sambyal, Principal of GDC Bishnah, whose leadership played a key role in preparing the students for the competition. The students were also supported by Dr. Kusum, Head of the Punjabi Department at GDC Bishnah, who accompanied them to the event, ensuring their smooth participation.
Government Degree College Bishnah takes immense pride in the achievements of its students and extends heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Nikhil Lakhotra for securing third place, as well as to Mr. Nitin Lakhotra and Ms. Simran Bhagat for their commendable efforts.
