Over three days, the training will offer teachers comprehensive approaches to positive discipline that emphasize creating school environments where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn. The training focuses on constructive discipline techniques, equipping teachers to nurture self-discipline, responsibility, and social-emotional skills among students.

Acknowledging that students spend a large part of their formative years within school walls, the training highlights the crucial role schools play in shaping their emotional and social well-being. India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 highlights the importance of holistic development, inclusivity, and emotional well-being in the educational journey of children. Central to this vision is the implementation of positive discipline, an approach that respects students’ dignity and fosters a culture of constructive behavioral management in schools.

The initiative comes in response to identified needs within schools, based on recommendations from the Chief Education Officer Anantnag and in alignment with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) guidelines. UNICEF India, through its implementing partner HWOHL, aims to strengthen teachers' capacity to employ positive, reinforcing methods in managing students’ behavior. By aligning with NEP 2020’s goals of ensuring child protection and well-being within educational settings, this training supports teachers in creating safe, child-friendly, and inclusive learning environments.

This training series is a critical step towards equipping all government teachers in Anantnag with effective techniques and skills to manage classrooms positively, thereby ensuring a safer and more supportive schooling experience for every child.
