CEC Kargil attends 50th Raising Day of NHPC
congratulates Chutak Power Station for getting best power station award

Kargil, November 11 (KIP)- Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon today attended the 50th Raising Day celebration of the NHPC at Chutak, Kargil.
Executive Councillor, Kargil Development Authority (KDA), Kacho Mohd. Feroz; Executive Councillor, Information, Er Punchok Tashi; ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohiud-In-Din Wani; Group General Manager and Head of Project at Chutak and Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, Jitender Kumar; police personnel, students, villagers, and others were present.
In his address, Dr. Akhoon acknowledged NHPC’s instrumental role in the economic development of Kargil, particularly for the communities directly impacted by its operations.
He highlighted NHPC’s contributions across multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, and local infrastructure projects, noting that these initiatives have greatly benefited the local populace.
The CEC underscored the importance of addressing the needs and grievances of affected communities, referring to them as family members and urging NHPC to continue supporting their welfare.
He also commended NHPC’s achievements in the power sector, emphasizing that Kargil district benefits from a stable 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply.
Dr. Akhoon praised the NHPC team for their dedication in maintaining one of the country’s top-performing power stations.
He also congratulated NHPC Chutak Power Station Kargil for getting the best Power Station Award of FY 2023-24 on Nov 07, 2024 on the occasion of 50th Foundation Day of NHPC Limited at Corporate Office Faridabad.
The CEC further expressed gratitude for NHPC’s recent Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including the donation of a mobile medical unit to CHC Sankoo.
Earlier, Jitender Kumar, Head of Project, provided an overview of NHPC’s significant achievements and ongoing projects in Kargil, highlighting efforts to enhance power generation and community development.
A cultural program was also organised during the event. The program proceedings were conducted by Rakesh Nandan, Manager (HR), Chutak Power Station, Minji, Kargil (U/T of Ladakh).
