Srinagar, April 30 (KIP)-In a significant initiative aimed at promoting legal literacy and civic responsibility, Police in Handwara organized an awareness programme on the newly enacted criminal laws at Government High School Magam. The event witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and members of the local community.
During the sessions students were interactive and enthusiastically engaged the officers with queries pertaining to new laws. Questions ranged from the advantages of specific legal changes to how these laws would improve everyday life. The officers encouraged such dialogue, fostering an environment where students felt empowered to understand the criminal jurisprudence.
Speaking on the occasion, senior police officials emphasized the importance of community-oriented policing and legal education. They noted that informed citizens are vital to the effective implementation of any law, and such awareness programmes serve as a bridge between law enforcement agencies and the public.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the rule of law and contribute towards a peaceful and just society. School authorities expressed gratitude to the police department for taking the initiative to bring legal knowledge to the grassroots level.
This programme is part of a broader outreach strategy by the Police to cultivate legal consciousness and strengthen public trust. Similar awareness campaigns are expected to be conducted in other educational institutions and community hubs in Handwara in the coming weeks.
