GDC Kargil holds Awareness Rally and Cleanliness Drive under Mission Indus Cleanup 2025

Kargil, August 09 (KIP)-Government Degree College Kargil held an awareness rally to highlight the importance of protection and preservation of Indus and it's important tributaries for sustainable life. Suru chapter of this rally was a significant part of this program on it's culminating day, as it constitute as the most significant tributary of Mighty Indus river and serve as the lifeline for Kargil District of UT Ladakh.
About 200 students and faculties of the college took out an awareness rally from College via Bagh e Khomeini to Megawatt area. The students were chanting slogans which read, "Save Suru Save Kargil", " Ghar Ki tarah gali mohalley saf rakho saf rakho", and "Suru i rgyamtso lhyakhmo joq lhyakhmo joq" in English, Urdu and Purgi languages respectively.
The students were holding placards and posters in their hands with a variety of awareness slogans. They also distributed pamphlets about the protection of Waterbodies to the masses on the way during the rally.
The rally culminated near Satellite colony chowk and held a cleanliness drive around the spot. The students enthusiastically took part in the drive and collected huge amount of garbage to be disposed properly through MC Dustbins.
Mr. Mustafa Ali (Physical Education Director) and member of the organising committee addressed the rally and highlighted the significance of such programs for a sustainable future. Dr. Abdul Hamid (Head Deptt. Of Env. Science) supervised the program.
Proper refreshment was also served to the participants by the college protocol committee.
The organising committee expressed gratitude to the District Administration, Municipal Committee Kargil and College Principal for making the program a successful one.
