Integrated Health Camp organized at Sub District Hospital (SDH), R.S. Pura, Jammu

Jammu, February 22 (KIP)-An Integrated Health Camp was organized by J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS) in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu at Sub District Hospital, R.S.Pura, Jammu here today. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu in the presence Dr. Tabassum Firdous, Deputy Director (HQ), JKACS, Dr. Monika Wali, Deputy Director (CST) JKACS and Dr. Balvinder Singh BMO, SDH, R.S. Pura along-with other officers and officials from the collaborating departments.

The Integrated Health Camp provided various facilities like free health check-ups by the Doctors from different specialties (Gynecology, Medicine, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Dental, etc..), screening facilities for Hepatitis – B, Hepatitis – C, Blood Sugar, TB, HIV including free drug dispensation to the needy.

The area was specially chosen keeping in mind its proximity to the International Border and its vulnerability to substance abuse which can lead to various ailments and infections especially blood borne diseases and sexually transmitted infections.

These services were provided to the common people of R.S.Pura which also included the public from the adjoining villages. The mobilization for the camp was done by ASHA / Health workers of block R.S. Pura in advance through sensitization programs and door to door visits in the villages. The camp saw an impressive participation of people in which around five hundred individuals were screened for various communicable diseases including Hepatitis-B, Hepatitis-C, Syphilis, HIV & TB in addition to the general health check-ups done in special OPDs organized during the said camp in which the total footfall was around one thousand.

The collaborating departments which were involved in making the camp a success included DHS Jammu, NHM, AYUSH, RNTCP, J&K AIDS Control Society, H&ME Department and Local Administration.
