Raman Bhalla demands deadline-Driven action from Union & J&K Govt to Address Public Issues

Jammu, February 28 (KIP)-JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today strongly urged both the Union Government and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to take immediate and time-bound measures to address the pressing concerns of the people across the Union Territory.
Addressing party workers and local residents during a public interaction programme, Bhalla said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with unemployment, price rise, power shortages, lack of basic civic amenities, and prolonged neglect of genuine public demands. He stressed that governance must reflect sensitivity, transparency, and accountability towards the suffering of common citizens.
Highlighting unemployment as the most serious issue, Bhalla said thousands of educated youth are facing uncertainty due to delayed recruitment processes, vacant government posts, and lack of industrial growth. He urged the government to expedite pending examinations, ensure transparent recruitment, and create sustainable employment opportunities through investment and skill-based initiatives.
“Youth frustration is growing. If timely corrective steps are not taken, it will have long-term social and economic consequences,” he warned.
Expressing concern over rising prices of essential commodities, electricity tariffs, and fuel, Bhalla said inflation has severely impacted middle-class families, daily wage earners, and small traders. He called for regulatory measures and targeted subsidies to ease the burden on the common man.
Raising the issue of daily wagers, contractual employees, and scheme workers, Bhalla demanded a comprehensive and humane policy for their regularisation. He said many of these workers have served government departments for years without job security or fair wages. “These workers form the backbone of several departments. Their long-pending demands must be resolved without further delay,” he added.
Referring to frequent power cuts, erratic drinking water supply, and slow pace of developmental works in both rural and urban areas, Bhalla said that basic amenities should not remain a luxury. He urged the administration to strengthen infrastructure, particularly in remote and border areas.
The Congress leader also highlighted the distress faced by farmers and horticulturists due to unpredictable weather, inadequate compensation for crop losses, and marketing challenges. He called for fair procurement policies and timely financial assistance. He further stated that small traders and local businesses are struggling due to economic slowdown and policy uncertainties, emphasizing that revival of local trade and support to MSMEs must be prioritised.
Bhalla stressed the need for responsive governance and regular grievance redressal mechanisms. He urged the Omar-led government to hold structured consultations with stakeholders and ensure time-bound disposal of public complaints.
“Development is meaningful only when it reaches the grassroots. The people of J&K deserve transparency, accountability, and tangible results,” Bhalla asserted.
The meeting was organized by Satish Sharma, General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee and former Chairman of the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
On the occasion, Block President Sanjeev Katal, Block President Latish Sharma, Bharat Priy (Chairman, Kisan Board Congress), Sandeep Dogra, Gandeep Samsher Singh, Satnam Kaka, Shivalik Mehta, Janak Raj, Ludarmani Sharma, Deewan Chand, Deendayal Sharma, Nagar Mal, Karan, Samrat Ashok Chib, Sawarn Kumar, Om Parkash Sharma, Shahil Kumar, Bittiw Kumar, Paras Ram, Darshan Lal, along with several other prominent citizens, were present.
Senior Congress leader Satish Sharma also echoed similar concerns, stating that the growing disconnect between public expectations and administrative response has deepened dissatisfaction across the Union Territory. He urged coordinated intervention from both the Union and J&K governments and called for stronger grassroots governance and transparent implementation of welfare schemes.
Reiterating his appeal, Raman Bhalla called upon both governments to work in coordination and prioritise public welfare, stating that addressing unemployment, inflation, civic infrastructure, and social security concerns is essential to restore public trust and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
