Rigzin Spalgon briefs Media on progress of Judicial Inquiry

Leh,March 10 (KIP)- A press briefing was held today by the Joint Secretary, Rigzin Spalgon, regarding the progress of the ongoing judicial inquiry related to the incident that occurred on the 24th september, under the chairmanship of Justice Retd BS Chauhan; Chairman Retd Distt & Session Judge, Sh. Mohan singh Parihar; Judicial Secretary and Counsel to Commission, Adv Himanshu Sharma.

The briefing focused on the follow-up actions taken by the Inquiry Commission and the status of the affidavits submitted in response to the public notice issued earlier.

The Joint Secretary informed that, as part of the inquiry process, a public notice had been issued inviting individuals to submit affidavits before the Commission. In response, the Commission has received and examined a large number of affidavits from members of the general public as well as from officials representing various departments of the administration. Upto December 2025, a total of 22 witness from administration had been examined. The inquiry work resumed in March 2026, and so far 18 administrative witness have been examined. In addition 45 public affidavits have been submitted.

He further stated that the Commission is currently in the process of examining the affidavits submitted by the administration. After the completion of this phase, the Commission will proceed with the examination of witnesses from the public and civilian side, whose statements will be recorded as part of the ongoing judicial proceedings.

Rigzin Spalgon emphasized that the inquiry is being conducted in a fair, transparent, and systematic manner, and all individuals who have submitted affidavits will be given due consideration as per the procedure laid down by the Commission.
