7-days NSS winter special camp inaugurated at GDC Samba

Jammu, March 12 (KIP)-Sh. Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College Samba, NSS Unit-MAITRI officially commenced its 7-Day NSS Winter Special Camp-2026. The Principal GDC Samba Prof. (Dr.) Nirlape Kour officially inaugurated the 7-Day NSS Winter Special Camp by planting a sapling in the college premises, symbolising growth and environmental responsibility. Commanding Officer, 1 J&K Naval unit NCC, Srinagar also planted a sapling on this occasion. In the keynote speech, the principal motivated the students to live by the NSS motto "Not Me, But You," urging them to bring positive change to the lives of the villagers during their stay at the adopted village. Prof. Narayan Dutt, Prof. Banpreet Kour, Prof. Mala Bhasin, Prof. Papinder Bhagat, and Prof. Kamlesh Bala also planted saplings. Following the plantation, the rincipal flagged off the bus of NSS volunteers as they departed for the adopted village, Balore. The volunteers will stay in Balore for 7 days to conduct community service, including door-to-door awareness, cleanliness drives, health awareness, socio-economic surveys, and interactive sessions with youth and elders to promote environmental awareness and digital privacy. Programme Officer Babita Kumari, conducted a briefing session, emphasized maintaining discipline, respecting village customs, and upholding the dignity of the NSS uniform while staying in Balore. The camp aims to bridge the gap between students and the community, fostering leadership qualities while contributing to the holistic development of the adopted village.
