SJFI National Council demands Central Government to launch National Pension Scheme

Old Goa, March 14 (KIP)-The national council meeting of the Senior Journalists Federation of India (SJFI), held at the Maharaja Agrasen Bhavan here today, called upon the Central Government to take urgent steps to implement the demands raised in its memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister in late December, after its first national conference held last year.

The SJFI national council, in its main resolution, pointed out that the organisation has demanded a National Pension Scheme with minimum pension of Rs. 25,000 across the country, a comprehensive healthcare scheme, a centrally sponsored welfare fund and setting up of National Media c
Commission as its main demands.

The resolution presented by SJFI vice president Anandam Pulipalupula of Telangana was unanimously adopted by the council meeting.

A social media policy document presented by Shastri Ramachandaran was also adopted by the council. It also gave approval to the draft constitution of SJFI presented by C Gouridasan Nair, convener of the subcommittee which drew up the draft.

The condolence resolution was presented by Smt Shanthakumari, secretary of SJFI, from Karnataka.

Around 20 members from 17 states participated in the discussions. Among them were Subodh Malla Barua (Assam), Sabanayakan (Bengal), Benudhar Panda (Odisha), G Viswanath (Mumbai), Aswani kumar (J&K), Pradeep Futela (Uttarakhand), Jayesh Patil (Maharashtra), Sambasadasiva Reddy (Karnataka), Vanith Sethi (Chandigarh), Shivaprasad Reddy (Telangana), T Janardhan (Andhra), Gurudas Sawal (Goa), George Kallivayalil (Delhi), K P Vijayakumar (Kerala), R Rangaraj (Tamil Nadu), Rima Sharmah (Delhi), Chandra Prakash Bhardwaj (Madhya Pradesh), John Mundakkayam (Kerala), Parameshwara Rao (Andhra) and others.

The meeting was presided over by Sandeep Dikshit, SJFI president. Its secretary general, N P Chekkutty, presented a report.

Reception committee chairman Gurudas Sawal welcomed the gathering. He also unveiled the SJFI flag at the venue. Receopn committee convener Subash Naik proposed a vote of thanks. In addition to the SJFI president Sandeep Dikshit, C Gouridasan Nair and Suhasini Prabhugaonkar functioned as presidium members for the national council meeting which concluded in the afternoon. The members had a tour of Goa sponsored by the Goa tourism department the day long deliberations.
