Police In Handwara Secures Conviction in POCSO Case

Srinagar, March 24 (KIP)-In a significant achievement, Police in Handwara has successfully secured a conviction in a sensitive case registered under FIR No. 69/2021 at Police Station Kralgund.
The Hon’ble Principal District & Sessions Court, Kupwara, has sentenced the accused, Irshad Ahmad Mir, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000 under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act. Additionally, the accused has been awarded 3 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 363 IPC. Both sentences shall run concurrently.
The case pertains to the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl in the year 2021. The conviction stands as a testament to the dedicated investigation, professional approach, and relentless efforts of Handwara Police in ensuring justice for victims, especially in cases involving crimes against children.
