Jammu, April 01 (KIP)- Jammu Division of Northern Railway has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to upgrade passenger facilities by successfully finalizing the tender process for the operation of a Food Van at Srinagar Railway Station.

This marks the first time in the station’s history that an official tender has been awarded for a Food Van service, reflecting a major step towards modernizing on-site amenities. The initiative aims to provide high-quality, hygienic, and affordable food options to the growing number of passengers using the station.

The contract has been awarded at an annual license fee of ₹11,77,786 and will remain valid for a period of five years, with a total contract value of ₹69,48,937.40. Officials believe that the Food Van is likely to become a key attraction, particularly for tourists visiting the region.

Apart from improving passenger convenience, the move is also expected to contribute significantly to the Railways’ non-fare revenue, strengthening its financial sustainability. Speaking on the development, Uchit Singhal said that the department remains committed to enhancing passenger experience and ensuring world-class amenities. He added that expanding such services at a major tourism hub like Srinagar will further modernize railway services in the region and make them more passenger-friendly.
