SDM Nubra Leads Subdivision-Wide Sanitation Campaign with Strong Community Participation

Nubra, April 03 (KIP)-Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Shri Jigmet Raftan, JKAS, chaired a preparatory meeting on April 2, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office Complex, Diskit, to review and finalize arrangements for a subdivision-wide sanitation campaign.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on ensuring coordinated efforts among all departments and stakeholders. The SDM directed all concerned to undertake intensive sanitation measures across main roads/streets, tourist places, marketplaces, government offices, institutions, water bodies, and other public places, with special focus on identification and clearance of waste accumulation points. He also emphasized active participation of educational institutions and local communities.
Pursuant to the meeting, a comprehensive sanitation campaign was successfully carried out on April 3, 2026, across the Sub-Divisional Headquarters and adjoining areas of Disket and Hunder villages. The campaign covered government offices, public institutions, marketplaces, water bodies, and prominent tourist destinations including the Sand Dunes.
The campaign witnessed active participation from villagers of Diskit and Hunder headed by respective Nambardars, employees of various government departments, school faculty and students, as well as members of the Merchant Association Nubra, Taxi Union Nubra, Hotel and Guest House Association Nubra, and Camel Safari Association. The initiative reflected a strong sense of collective responsibility and community engagement.
The SDM appreciated the enthusiastic involvement of all stakeholders and underscored that such sustained efforts are essential for preserving the fragile ecosystem of the region, improving public hygiene, and promoting responsible tourism.
He further appealed to all residents of Nubra Subdivision to organize and actively participate in similar sanitation initiatives in their respective villages on a regular basis. He emphasized that cleanliness and environmental conservation must be upheld as a shared and continuous responsibility.
