Guru Nanak HC & Khalsa Gole Gujral Storm into Semi-Finals of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Hockey Tournament

Jammu, April 03 (KIP)-The ongoing Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Hockey Tournament, organised by Khalsa Club, Gole Gujral, witnessed high-energy quarter-final clashes today, with four teams securing their place in the semi-finals after impressive performances.

In the opening quarter-final, Bandhu Rakh Hockey Club delivered a commanding performance against Khalsa Blue, registering a convincing 3–0 victory to advance into the semi-finals. Dr. Taran Singh graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while R.S. Soodan attended as Guest of Honour.

The second quarter-final saw MRS Hockey Club, Simbal Camp dominate Seetu Hockey Club, Simbal Camp with a resounding 4–0 win. S. Paramjit Singh (KAS) addressed the gathering as Chief Guest, encouraging youth participation in the national game, while S. Manjit Singh from Sikhs For All Foundation was present as Guest of Honour.

One of the most thrilling encounters of the day featured Guru Nanak Hockey Club, which defeated MBS Simbal Camp by 6–2. The highlight of the match was a शानदार hat-trick by Royal Singh, showcasing exceptional skill and sportsmanship. Dr. Satinder Singh, former Principal of GGM Science College, attended as Chief Guest and shared valuable insights on the rich legacy of hockey in J&K. Former national hockey player Harbans Singh was honoured as Guest of Honour.

In the final quarter-final, Khalsa Club, Gole Gujral outplayed Gobind Hockey Club, Chatha with a 2–0 victory, securing their place in the semi-finals. Sh. Rajiv Sharma, Member Sports Council, and S. Iqbal Singh, former national player, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.

Among other prominent personalities present were S. Iqbal Singh, Harbans Singh, M.S. Reen, Satbir Singh Satti, Harkirat Singh Bhapi, Ravinder Singh Bitta, S. Bayant Singh, Paramjit Singh, and Avtar Singh.

The semi-final matches are scheduled to be played tomorrow from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Presents Charge-Sheet Against Naib Tehsildar & patwari Halqa Uri in trap case.

Jammu, Srinagar, April 03 (Scoop News)-Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu & Kashmir, has presented a charge-sheet before the Hon’ble Court against two public servants, namely Altaf Hussain Khan, then Naib Tehsildar Uri, and Pardeep Kumar, Patwari Halqa Uri, for their involvement in a bribery/trap case FIR No 12-2024 of PS ACB Baramulla .

A complaint was received by ACB from a resident of Uri, District Baramulla, on 11.09.2023, alleging that he had purchased land measuring 10 marlas and constructed a house thereon. Owing to a dispute with the seller, the complainant approached the Tehsil office Uri for requisite revenue documents. It was alleged that the accused officials demanded a bribe of ₹10 lakh, which was subsequently negotiated to ₹1 lakh, in lieu of furnishing the required report/documents.

Unwilling to succumb to corrupt practices, the complainant approached Police Station ACB Baramulla with a written complaint seeking legal action. Upon verification, a case was registered, and a trap was laid. During the operation, accused Altaf Hussain Khan was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant. The tainted amount was recovered from his possession, and he was arrested on the spot. He was subsequently remanded to police/judicial custody by the Hon’ble Court from time to time.

Investigation into the matter has prima facie established the involvement of both accused officials, including the role of Patwari Pardeep Kumar, based on evidence collected during the course of investigation.

Upon completion of the investigation and after obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the Government of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the ACB has today filed a charge-sheet (challan) against both accused under Section 7 and Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 read with Section 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), before the Hon’ble Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla.

The Hon’ble Court has fixed 02/05/2026 as the next date in the case. This is the 7th charge-sheet filed in the year 2026 by Police Station ACB Baramulla before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla in different corruption cases.

J&K Police solves theft case in Awantipora; 02 arrested

April 03: Jammu, Srinagar, April 03 (Scoop News)-J&K Police in Awantipora successfully solved a theft case and arrested two accused persons involved in the commission of the crime.

On 02 April 2026, one Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Gh. Mohd resident of Noorpora lodged a written complaint stating that during the intervening night of 01/02 April 2026, unknown burglars broke into a temporary shed located in his apple orchard at Watsser and stole two motors. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 78/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, a team of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora, using modern techniques including CCTV analysis and other technical means, apprehended two accused persons identified as Maqsood Ahmad Lone son of Farooq Ahmad Lone resident of Check Noorpora and Shabir Ahmad Wani son of Ab Rahim Wani resident of Check Noorpora. On their disclosure, the stolen motors were recovered from their possession. Further investigation is underway.
