NIT Srinagar hosts Rajbhasha Saptah, organises various competitions

Director, Registrar stress importance of Rajbhasha

Srinagar, April 17 (KIP)-The Rajbhasha Cell of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday concluded the Rajbhasha Saptah, held from April 13 to 17, featuring a series of engaging activities and competitions on campus.

As part of the week-long programme, various competitions, including Administrative Vocabulary and Essay Writing were organized for the ministerial staff to promote the use of Rajbhasha in official work.

The events witnessed enthusiastic participation, with experts such as Dr. Neelofar Hameed, Hindi Anuvadak at RRIUM Srinagar, and Dr. Mudasir Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, University of Kashmir, serving as judges.

Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Dar, Assistant Registrar (Academics) and Hindi Teaching & Training Supervisor of the Rajbhasha Cell, In-Charge Hindi Officer Dr. R.P. Shukla (Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department), and Coordinator of the event, Dr. Sabzar Gani, played a key role in organizing the events.

Appreciation awards were presented to the top three performers in each competition, while certificates were distributed to all participants.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, emphasized the importance of promoting Rajbhasha as an official language.

He also encouraged staff and students to actively participate in such initiatives to strengthen linguistic inclusivity and administrative efficiency.

Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, appreciated the efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell in successfully organizing the week-long programme.

He also highlighted the role of such activities in fostering a culture of multilingual proficiency within the institution.

Dr. R.P. Shukla, Hindi Adhikari, said that Rajbhasha Saptah serves as a platform to encourage greater use of Rajbhasha Hindi in official communication and helps build confidence among employees in adopting the language in their day-to-day work.

He emphasized that the implementation of the Official Languages Act, 1967, should be effectively implemented to promote Hindi in administrative functioning in a structured and consistent manner

Dr Shukla reiterated the commitment of the Rajbhasha Cell towards promoting Hindi in line with government guidelines.

Meanwhile, Suhail Ahmad Dar and Mehraj-ud-din also extended their support in making the event successful.
