Tehsil-Level Poshan Pakhwada & Early Child Marriage Awareness Program

Kargil, April 20 (KIP)- ICDS Project Shargole organised a Tehsil-level awareness program on Poshan Pakhwada & Early Child Marriage at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Shargole. The event was held in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kargil and Govt. HSS Shargole, with the aim of raising wide awareness among children, adolescents, and the general public.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Dr. Niyaz (Chairperson DCPU Kargil) as resource person, Mr. Mohd Naqi, Principal HSS Shargole as resource person, all staff members of HSS, Supervisors Punchok Dolma & Kacho Mustafa, Block Coordinator from ICDS, Anganwadi Workers of ICDS Project Shargole, and students of the Higher Secondary School.
Supervisor Kacho Mustafa welcomed the gathering and briefly explained Poshan Pakhwada, its objectives, and the prescribed main theme. Principal Mohd Naqi delivered an insightful address on nutrition, stressing the importance of quality education, good parenting, and proper nurturing for holistic child development. Dr. Niyaz from DCPU Kargil highlighted various child welfare schemes and spoke extensively on the issue of early child marriage. Special focus was given to sensitizing participants about the POCSO Act and legal safeguards for children.
Local and traditional ethnic foods were displayed to promote awareness on the nutritional value of indigenous diets and the need to incorporate them in daily life as per the local climate and culture.
The program concluded with light refreshment served to all participants.
The collaborative event successfully spread awareness on nutrition, child protection, and the harmful effects of early marriage, while encouraging community participation in building a healthier, safer environment for children.
