Jivetsal, May 03 (KIP)-The second day of public veneration of the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with thousands of devotees gathering at Jivetsal to pay their respects. The spiritual event drew large participation from the Nyoma and Kharu blocks, reflecting deep reverence and devotion among the people.

According to the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Youth Wing, approximately 9,000 devotees visited Jivetsal on the second day to seek blessings from the holy relics of the Tathagata. From early morning until late in the day, long queues of devotees could be seen patiently waiting for their turn, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

The second day of veneration was marked by a prayer ceremony conducted by venerable monks from Thiksey Monastery under the aegis of the Ladakh Gonpa Association. As part of the ongoing observance, monks from 16 major monasteries across Ladakh will continue to perform prayers on a rotational basis each day. Their continuous chanting is intended to spiritually uplift devotees and deepen their connection with the teachings of Lord Buddha.

The event has been efficiently managed with the support of volunteers from the Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing, along with personnel from the police, ITBP, and UTDRF, who have been actively assisting in crowd management and providing support to elderly and physically challenged devotees.

The Ladakh Buddhist Association, which is coordinating the programme, has issued a village-wise schedule to ensure inclusive participation from all parts of Leh district. Organisers have confirmed that all regions will be covered in a phased manner, allowing equal opportunity for devotees to take part in the veneration.

Tomorrow, devotees from the Sham region up to Saspol, including the Aryan belt, are scheduled to visit Jivetsal in Choglamsar to offer their prayers.

The Sacred Relics will remain at Jivetsal for public veneration until May 10. Thereafter, they will be taken to Zanskar on May 11 for the next phase of the spiritual programme.
