DC Drass attends RD &PR Plantation Drive under ‘Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu Campaign Goshan’

Drass, June 05 (KIP)- In a major push towards environmental sustainability and rural healthcare development , the Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), led a plantation drive today in Goshan today and also took stock of the healthcare facilities in the village. He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vishal Atri, Block Development Officer, Drass, Dr. Mohammad Amin Naqvi, officials of Departments of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Forest apart from local residents.
The plantation drive was held under the ongoing ‘Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu’ Campaign. The drive in Goshan was kicked off with an aim to enhance green cover and combat soil erosion in the high-altitude region. The event saw enthusiastic, large-scale participation from local residents and civil society members working side-by-side with the administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner emphasized that environmental conservation is a collective responsibility. While seeking active cooperation of the residents, he noted that planting trees in the Drass region is vital not only for its scenic landscape but also for preserving the fragile ecosystem of Ladakh. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate echoed these sentiments, urging the locals to take active ownership of the newly planted saplings to ensure their long-term survival and care.
Following the green initiative, the Deputy Commissioner paid a visit to the Ayushman Arogya Mandir Sub-Centre (SC) Goshan to review public healthcare delivery. He interacted with the staff and sought to know the challenges being faced.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the operational readiness of the health facility, check the availability of essential medicines and interact directly with healthcare staff and local patients.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Health Department staff to maintain the highest standards of medical care and ensure that the benefits of the Government's flagship health schemes reach the last mile. The dignitaries also listened to feedback from the villagers regarding local healthcare needs, assuring them that any infrastructural gaps would be addressed on priority.
The residents also sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner regarding issues of their food supply store. He stated that the matter will be discussed with the concerned department.
The local residents of Goshan expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Block Development Officer for their proactive dual-initiative focusing on both the ecological and physical well-being of the community.
