Kargil Marks International Yoga Day 2026 with Mass Yoga Session at Biamathang

Kargil, June 21 (KIP)- Along with the rest of the world, International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated today at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Biamathang, Kargil, with a refreshing yoga session and awareness programme on the benefits and practice of yoga.
This year’s event was centred around the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being across all age groups.
Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; SSP Kargil, Nitin Yadav; ADDC, Ghulam Mohd; Nominated LAHDC Kargil Councillor, Riyaz Ahmad; along with other district officers, army officials, students, and hundreds of participants, joined the session.
Participants also listened live to the address of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations from Red Road, Kolkata, West Bengal.
Yoga instructors from the Department of Youth Services and Sports conducted the session, guiding participants through various yoga postures while creating awareness about their benefits and role in promoting relaxation and overall well-being.
