Baramulla, June 30 (KIP)-In a significant step towards strengthening the private education sector through democratic participation and collective leadership, the Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools' Association (PSA) Baramulla District Body Elections were conducted successfully under the supervision of the PSA Election Commission at Kashmir Public Vidyalaya School, Pattan, Baramulla.
The election process witnessed enthusiastic participation from school heads and educationists representing different educational zones of Baramulla district. The polling was conducted in a transparent, peaceful and democratic atmosphere, reaffirming the Association's commitment to institutional integrity, accountability and participatory leadership.
The election was conducted under the chairmanship of Election Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Dar, assisted by North Kashmir Election Observer & Coordinator Mushtaq Shaheen and the Election Commission team, while B.A. Shah, Election Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer (PRO), coordinated the entire electoral proceedings.
Two candidates contested for the post of District President after filing their nomination papers: Mir Aadil Mohi-ud-Din, Chairman, Cambridge Foundation School, Kunzer; Firdous Mustafa, Ahmad Memorial Educational Institute, Rafiabad.
Following a transparent election process, the Election Commission declared the results amid applause from the participating delegates.

The Election Commission congratulated all participants for upholding democratic values and ensuring a peaceful electoral exercise.
Following the announcement of results, a felicitation ceremony was organised in honour of the newly elected district body, where bouquets were presented to the office bearers amid applause from the participants.
Eminent Educationists Witness Democratic Process, two distinguished educationists attended as Special Guests and Independent Observers to witness the transparency of the election process.
Niymph Kaul Puri, an eminent educationist with over 37 years of experience, Managing Director of Rockford Schools and Vice Chairperson of RAI Foundation, appreciated the democratic culture being nurtured within PSA and encouraged school leaders to continue working collectively for educational excellence.
Surbhi Mishra, an educationist with more than 25 years of experience in higher education, known for her contribution in establishing universities and medical colleges, also observed the election proceedings and appreciated the professionalism, transparency and participation displayed by the Association.
The election proceedings were witnessed by several senior office bearers and dignitaries of PSA, including Dr. G.N. Var, Veteran National Education Leader, NISA Joint Secretary and PSA Chief Patron; Bilal Ahmad Bhat, State President, PSA; Hilal Ahmad Khan, Treasurer, PSA and District President Shopian; Prof. Dr. Ab. Majeed Pandith, Advisor; Haji Ali Mohammad Wani, Advisor; Aadil Habib, District President Srinagar Also present were the Zone Presidents: Bashir Ahmad Malik (Singhpora/Pattan Zone); Rouf Maqbool (Dangiwacha/Rafiabad Zone) ; Manzoor Ahmad Bhat (Dangerpora/Sopore Zone); Mohammad Altaf Wani (Tangmarg Zone); Jameel Masoodi (Kunzer Zone).
Speaking on the occasion, PSA Chief Patron and Veteran National Education Leader Dr. G.N. Var congratulated the newly elected district body and all participating school leaders for upholding the democratic values of the Association. He said, "Elections are not about victory or defeat; they are about strengthening unity, integrity, mutual respect and collective responsibility. I congratulate every school leader who participated in this democratic process with dignity and commitment. A strong and united Association is essential to safeguard the interests of schools, protect the dignity of teachers, uphold the aspirations of parents and secure a brighter future for our students. Our common mission must always remain the welfare of every child and the advancement of quality education."
Dr. Var said that every school is a centre of learning, character-building and nation-building, while teachers are the true architects of society who shape young minds with knowledge, values, discipline and compassion. He stressed that schools must go beyond academic excellence and nurture responsible, skilled and morally upright citizens.
He said "Every child deserves quality, child-centred and value-based education in a safe and inspiring learning environment. When schools remain united, teachers feel empowered, students receive better opportunities and parents develop greater confidence in the education system. Together, we must work tirelessly to strengthen our schools, empower our teachers and ensure that every student receives the good education, guidance and opportunities needed to build a successful and meaningful future."
He reaffirmed that PSA will continue to stand firmly with every genuine educational institution and work collectively for the welfare of schools, teachers, students and the overall development of the private education sector across Jammu & Kashmir.
PSA State President Bilal Ahmad Bhat congratulated the newly elected district body and expressed gratitude to the Election Commission. He said "I wholeheartedly congratulate the newly elected leadership of PSA Baramulla and appreciate every member who participated with maturity and discipline. My sincere appreciation goes to the Election Commission for conducting a free, fair and transparent election which further strengthens the democratic foundation of PSA. I also warmly welcome our respected special guests and observers whose presence enhanced the credibility of today's proceedings. Together we will continue working for the welfare of schools, teachers and students."
PSA General Secretary (Org) Mohammad Syed Wani extended his congratulations to the newly elected team. He said "A strong association is built on trust, participation and service. Today's election reflects the democratic values of PSA and demonstrates our collective commitment towards safeguarding the interests of private schools. I urge the newly elected leadership to remain accessible, transparent and dedicated while working tirelessly for educational excellence and the welfare of students & every member institution."
PSA Treasurer and District President Shopian Hilal Ahmad Khan said "My inner voice always reminds me that every school leader deserves respect and appreciation. There is a significant difference between education and mere qualification. Education develops values, wisdom and responsibility. We must prepare ourselves for emerging challenges with honesty, professionalism and complete trust in Almighty Allah while always choosing the right path."
Director Media & Communications Dr. Owais Mattoo congratulated the newly elected leadership. He said "The successful conduct of these elections reflects the maturity and institutional strength of PSA. A united educational fraternity is essential for addressing challenges faced by schools and ensuring better academic opportunities for students. Through responsible leadership, constructive dialogue and effective communication, PSA will continue to serve as a strong voice for quality education across Jammu and Kashmir."
The proceedings were formally introduced by PSA PRO and Election Liaison Officer B.A. Shah, who welcomed the dignitaries, delegates and observers and briefed the gathering about the objectives of the election and the significance of democratic participation within PSA.
Election Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Dar said "The responsibility entrusted to the Election Commission was to ensure a completely free, fair and transparent election. I am grateful to every participant for maintaining discipline and democratic values. Let us move forward with unity, integrity, honour and mutual respect for every school, irrespective of its size. Strong associations emerge when members help each other, and by strengthening PSA we strengthen every school, every teacher and ultimately every student."
PSA District President Srinagar Aadil Habib stressed the importance of collective representation. He said "Associations play a vital role in protecting genuine educational institutions. We must collectively discourage unethical practices by commercial-minded schools that adversely affect budget schools serving common families. A strong and united association is essential to safeguard quality education and maintain healthy educational standards."
PSA Advisor Prof. Dr. Ab. Majeed Pandith praises to PSA Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var for his lifelong contribution towards strengthening private education. He said "Dr. G.N. Var has dedicated decades of his life to protecting the interests of private schools. His vision transformed PSA into a respected educational movement. Individual schools cannot survive today's challenges in isolation. Only a strong association can collectively safeguard the dignity, rights and future of educational institutions."
Expressing gratitude after being elected District President, Mir Aadil Mohi-ud-Din said "I sincerely thank every member for placing their trust in me. I consider this responsibility a service rather than a position. I assure every school, teacher and member institution that my doors will always remain open. We will work collectively to strengthen academic standards, protect the interests of schools and ensure that every student benefits from a positive and quality learning environment. Together, we will build a stronger and more united PSA Baramulla."
Newly elected Vice President Firdous Mustafa thanked the members for their confidence. He said "Serving as Interim District President gave me an opportunity to unite schools and successfully facilitate this democratic process. The elections remained completely open and transparent, allowing every eligible school leader to contest freely. I will continue working alongside the new leadership for the welfare of schools and appeal to every member to remain united for the greater cause of education."
Newly elected Organiser Mohammad Altaf Wani said "PSA stands today because of the tireless dedication and vision of our respected Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var, who devoted his days and nights to unite schools under one banner. It is now our responsibility to preserve that unity and continue working selflessly for the betterment of schools, teachers and students."
Newly elected District Secretary Abdul Rashid Dar said "We sincerely acknowledge the extraordinary efforts and lifelong commitment of Dr. G.N. Var Sahib towards protecting private education. Many challenges faced by schools were resolved because of his leadership. We must now build an even stronger association, work collectively to resolve emerging issues and effectively highlight educational concerns through responsible media engagement."

He expressed confidence that the newly elected leadership work with dedication, transparency and unity to further strengthen the Association and serve the larger cause of quality education across Baramulla district.
