Inspection Team Khaltse Conducts Enforcement Drive Against Banned Single-Use Plastics
Fines Imposed on Violators.

Khaltse, July 04 (KIP)-In compliance with the directions of the UT Administration and under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), the Inspection Team Khaltse, today conducted a special enforcement drive across the Khaltse Market area to ensure the effective implementation of the ban on single-use plastics (SUP) and to curb littering.
The inspection team comprised Naib Tehsildar Khaltse, Asgar Ali; Block Development Officer Khaltse, Dr. Zakir Hussain; Tehsil Supply Officer Khaltse, Afzal Khan; Sub-Inspector, Skarma Angchuck; Assistant Sub-Inspector, Mohd. Jaffer; Panchayat Inspector Khaltse, Tsering Angchuck; and police personnel.
During the drive, the team inspected shops and commercial establishments to verify compliance with the ban on single-use plastic items. Violators found using or stocking prohibited plastic items were fined a total of Rs. 12,000 under the applicable provisions.
During the inspection, the Tehsil Supply Officer, Khaltse, also detected a shop operating without a valid licence. A fine of Rs. 2,000 was imposed under the relevant provisions of the Food Department regulations.
In total, Rs. 14,000 was collected as fines from the defaulters during the enforcement drive.
The Inspection Team appealed to all shopkeepers and vendors to strictly comply with the ban on single-use plastics, refrain from littering, and adopt eco-friendly alternatives to help maintain a clean and sustainable environment. The team further informed that such inspection and enforcement drives will continue on a regular basis, and strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the ban on single-use plastics or engaging in littering.
