08/07/2026

Kargil, July 08 (KIP)-As a part of summer program initiative to promote continuous and joyful learning among children, the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kargil, in collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation, has launched specially designed Summer Vacation Worksheets for students of Classes I and II in government schools across District Kargil.

Developed under the aegis of the School Education Department, UT Ladakh, the worksheets aim to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The initiative seeks to ensure that children remain meaningfully engaged in learning during the summer break through enjoyable, activity-based exercises rooted in the local context. The worksheets cover two key subject areas; English and Mathematics. To make learning more relatable and engaging, the activities incorporate references to Ladakh environment and culture.

The distribution of the worksheets commenced at DIET Kargil and will be further disseminated to students through government schools across the district. Designed to be simple, flexible, and accessible, the worksheets can be completed either in notebooks or on printed sheets, ensuring that children in remote and geographically challenging areas can participate effectively. The initiative also encourages active parental involvement in children's learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal, DIET Kargil, stated, “This collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation reflects our collective commitment towards strengthening Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. These worksheets are intended to make learning enjoyable, contextual, and accessible for every child.”

A representative of the 17000ft Foundation remarked, “We are proud to support Ladakh's education ecosystem through this initiative. The worksheets are thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and joyful engagement while ensuring continuity of learning during the summer break.”

DIET Kargil appeals to parents and teachers to guide and encourage children in completing these activities and to make the summer vacation a period of productive, joyful, and holistic development. For further information, schools and stakeholders may contact DIET Kargil.
