DC Kathua reviews physical, financial progress of Irrigation & Flood Control works

Kathua, July 08 (KIP)-Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a review meeting to assess the physical and financial progress of development works being executed by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department under various schemes in the district.

The meeting was attended by the CPO Kathua Ranjeet Thakur, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Kathua, Executive Engineers of Irrigation and Flood Control Divisions, Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the physical and financial progress of various projects being executed under different schemes, including SASCI, UT Capex and CDS. A detailed review of ongoing works as well as newly sanctioned projects was conducted to assess their implementation status and identify bottlenecks affecting timely completion.

The DC expressed serious concern over the slow pace of execution in certain projects and directed the officers to expedite the works to ensure their completion within the stipulated timelines. He stressed the need for close monitoring of all developmental works and called upon the executing agencies to improve work efficiency and avoid unnecessary delays.

Emphasising the importance of quality, the Deputy Commissioner issued strict instructions to ensure that all works are executed strictly as per approved specifications and technical standards. He asked the officers to carry out field inspections on regular intervals.

The Deputy Commissioner also cautioned that contractors failing to adhere to prescribed timelines or compromising on the quality of works would face strict action, including blacklisting, as per the rules. He further impressed upon the officers the need to expedite all pending works and ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe.
