Administrative Secretary Inspires JNV Students at Enterprising Ladakh Programme

Leh, July 31 (KIP)-he 20-Day Entrepreneurship Certificate Programme for students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Leh, concluded today with a valedictory function held under the Enterprising Ladakh Project, an initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Union Territory of Ladakh, implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad.
The programme aimed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking among school students by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to identify opportunities, solve local problems, and develop sustainable business ideas rooted in the unique socio-economic context of Ladakh.
The valedictory function was graced by Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Higher Education, UT Ladakh, as the Chief Guest, while Shri Yogendra Singh, Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Leh, attended as the Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr. Diwakar Singh, Assistant Professor, EDII, highlighted that the objective of the programme extended far beyond introducing students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. He stated that the programme sought to cultivate values of responsible citizenship by encouraging students to identify local challenges, think creatively, and develop ethical and sustainable business solutions capable of creating value for society.
"Entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business; it is about becoming a problem solver, an innovator, and a responsible citizen. Throughout these twenty days, our effort has been to inspire students to look at the challenges of Ladakh as opportunities for innovation and sustainable enterprise," he remarked.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, emphasized the pivotal role of young people in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. She noted that India's future rests in the hands of its youth and encouraged students to think beyond conventional employment.
She observed that not everyone needs to seek a government job and that entrepreneurship has become an essential requirement for building a self-reliant nation. Encouraging students to nurture even the smallest ideas, she said that every successful enterprise begins with a simple idea backed by determination, creativity, and skill.
She assured the students that initiatives such as Enterprising Ladakh would continue to support aspiring entrepreneurs throughout their entrepreneurial journey by providing mentoring, guidance, and institutional support. She further urged the participants to become skilled, self-reliant, and confident individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to society and the nation's development.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Yogendra Singh, Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, emphasized that entrepreneurship is an important driver of national development and employment generation. He reminded students that every successful entrepreneur begins with a small idea and shared examples of businesses that started modestly before growing into nationally recognized enterprises.
He encouraged students to apply the curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking nurtured during the programme to solve real-life problems, generate employment opportunities, and contribute positively to society.
Over the course of twenty days, participants were introduced to entrepreneurial mindset, opportunity identification, innovation, business planning, leadership, communication, design thinking, market understanding, and enterprise development through interactive sessions, practical activities, case studies, and mentoring. During the valedictory function, certificates were awarded to the participants who successfully completed the programme.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of Enterprising Ladakh's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent among the youth of Ladakh by creating an enabling ecosystem that supports aspiring entrepreneurs from idea generation to enterprise creation.
The initiative continues to encourage young people to become innovators, ethical entrepreneurs, and employment generators capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the Union Territory.
