Panun Kashmir activist’s workshop charts September programmes
From July 20 mobilisation to September 5 Nyaya Sankalp and September 14 Balidan Diwas
21/08/2026

Jammu, August 21 (KIP)-A meeting-cum-workshop of activists of Panun Kashmir was held on Sunday at Swami Ram Shaiv Trika Ashram, Naseeb Nagar, Jammu, to deliberate upon the organisational strategy and programme framework for the forthcoming programmes on September 5 and September 14, Balidan Diwas.
The workshop was jointly chaired by Dr. Agnishekhar, Convenor, Panun Kashmir, and Tito Ganju, Chairman, Panun Kashmir. The deliberations focused on the proposed programmes, their wider outreach and the need for coordinated participation and mobilisation of activists.
The September programmes are being conceived as part of a continuum of Panun Kashmir’s ongoing mobilisation, beginning with its July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The July 20 programme sought to place the question of justice for the displaced Kashmiri Hindu community firmly before the national political discourse and to reiterate the community’s demand for a secure and dignified homeland.
The next phase of the campaign will be marked by the proposed Nyaya Sankalp on September 5, including a one-day hunger strike, followed by the observance of Balidan Diwas on September 14. The two programmes are intended to carry forward the political and moral message of the July mobilisation, linking the demand for justice with the remembrance of those who made the supreme sacrifice.
September 14, Balidan Diwas, holds particular significance for Kashmiri Hindus. The day is observed in memory of the community’s martyrs and is closely associated with the assassination of Pandit Tika Lal Taploo, who was killed by terrorists in Srinagar on September 14, 1989. For the community, the day has evolved into an annual reaffirmation of its historical memory and collective resolve.
The workshop emphasised that the three dates, July 20, September 5 and September 14, should be understood as stages of a continuing campaign: mobilisation, assertion of the demand for justice, and remembrance of sacrifice.
During the meeting, Chairman Tito Ganju constituted a Coordination Committee to oversee preparations for the September programmes and appointed Bebooji Zutshi as its Coordinator.
The Coordination Committee comprises:
Bebooji Zutshi - Coordinator
Shadi Lal Bakshi.
Bhushan Lal Bhat.
Ramesh Bhat.
R. L. Kak.
M. K. Dhar.
Lenin Bhat.
T. N. Kaul.
P. L. Pandita.
Bituji Bhat.
The Committee will coordinate organisational, logistical and outreach arrangements for the programmes and facilitate participation among activists and community organisations.
Kashmira Vahini the Women’s Wing of Panun Kashmir participated actively in the workshop and resolved to play a leading role in mobilising women and families for the forthcoming programmes on September 5 and September 14, Balidan Diwas. The participants Daizy Bhat, Mamta Kaw, Reena Pandita, Usha Amla, Dazy Pandita, Smiriti Raina & Aakriti Raina emphasised that women, as custodians of memory, culture and the lived experience of displacement, have a vital role in carrying forward the community’s collective resolve. The Women’s Wing will work in close coordination with the newly constituted committee to ensure broad-based participation and strengthen the mobilisation from July 20 through Nyaya Sankalp on September 5 to Balidan Diwas on September 14.
The workshop concluded with a collective resolve that the forthcoming programmes would carry forward the momentum generated on July 20 and give the September campaign a wider organisational and public dimension.
For Panun Kashmir, the journey from July 20 to September 5 and ultimately to September 14 is intended as a continuum: from mobilisation to Nyaya Sankalp, and from Nyaya Sankalp to remembrance and resolve.
