Government has failed to Deliver on People’s Mandate: Hakeem Yaseen

Srinagar, August 31 (KIP)- Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Monday criticised the government for allegedly failing to address the concerns of the people despite receiving a massive mandate, saying that the past two years have not brought the expected relief or development to the public.
Addressing various delegations from Budgam district, Yaseen said that people had voted with great expectations, but the government has failed to deliver on its promises. “It has been two years since the government received a massive mandate, but people are still waiting for tangible action on issues concerning their daily lives,” he said.
Yaseen said political statements, blame games and taking credit for ongoing projects would not resolve the problems confronting the people. He alleged that successive governments had failed to safeguard the interests of Jammu and Kashmir and said all political parties were responsible for “selling power projects, water and other resources” while leaving the people to face hardships.
He expressed concern over the difficulties faced by farmers and horticulturists due to flash floods, heavy rains, hailstorms and other weather-related incidents. He said many farmers suffered extensive crop losses, but adequate compensation had not been provided by the concerned Agriculture and Horticulture departments.
Yaseen also alleged that there was a lack of accountability in the functioning of various departments. Referring to reports of spurious and substandard pesticides being sold in the market, he demanded strict inspections and a time-bound investigation to identify those responsible. He said farmers should not be made victims of negligence and profiteering.
The PDF president said the economic situation of people, particularly in Kashmir, remained under severe stress due to unemployment, rising living costs and limited livelihood opportunities. He also criticised the increase in electricity tariffs, saying that the common consumer was being burdened without adequate relief.
Yaseen urged the government to strengthen public services, create employment opportunities, provide timely compensation to affected farmers, regulate agricultural inputs and ensure accountability at every level.
“People will vote when elections are held. This is not the time for politics; this is the time to serve the people. The government must focus on governance, accountability and providing relief to the common man,” he said.
Omar-led Govt. Giving Priority to Youth Empowerment, Says Rattan Lal Gupta

Addressing the gathering on the occasion of opening the YNC Office in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized by S. Tejinder Pal Singh Provincial President Jammu YNC his provincial team and other YNC functionaries in presence of Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Provincial Secretary Jammu, Bimla Luthra former MLA, Bushan Lal Bhat former MLC, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary Jammu, Ankush Abrol Joint Secretary Jammu Province, Rakesh Singh Raka, Dilshad Malik Vice Presidents Central Zone and Laxmi Datta Senior leader.
Gupta said that the youth are the backbone of the nation and their aspirations, concerns and future cannot be ignored. He stressed that creating adequate employment opportunities, strengthening skill development, promoting entrepreneurship and providing a conducive environment for young people should remain among the foremost priorities of the Government.
He said that the Omar-led Government is committed to creating new avenues for employment and self-employment and ensuring that the youth of J&K get opportunities to build a secure and dignified future. The Government has already started the Mission YUVA for the development and welfare of the Youth.
The NC leader further said that the Government must continue to work with a focused approach to tackle unemployment and harness the energy, talent and potential of the younger generation for the overall development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Empowered youth mean a stronger Jammu and Kashmir and a stronger nation. The aspirations of our youth must be fulfilled through concrete policies, employment opportunities and inclusive development,” Gupta said.
