NC manifesto is a blueprint for betrayal, Omar Govt has lost people’s trust: Baldev Billawaria

Doda, September 09 (KIP)-J&K BJP General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC)-led government headed by Omar Abdullah, accusing it of betraying the electoral mandate, misleading the people and failing on every major front of governance. He said the NC manifesto has turned into a “blueprint for betrayal”, where promises were made to capture votes and excuses are now being offered to avoid accountability.
Billawaria was addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Doda. Kishtwar District Prabhari Gajay Singh Rana, BJP Doda District President Babu Ram, BJP Ramban District President Neelam Langeh, MLA Dalip Parihar, DDCs, BDCs, Sarpanches from Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar, besides other BJP leaders and representatives, were present.
Taking direct aim at Omar Abdullah, Billawaria said the Chief Minister cannot continue to hide behind rhetoric while the people of J&K are waiting for delivery on the promises made before the elections. He said the NC came to power by making a litany of tall promises, but after assuming office, the government has demonstrated that the manifesto was designed more as an election instrument than a roadmap for governance.
“The NC deliberately created expectations among the people with promises it had neither the roadmap nor the intention to fulfil. Today, instead of answering the people, the Omar Abdullah government is searching for excuses. This is not governance, it is a betrayal of public trust,” Billawaria said.
Billawaria pointed to the remarks of former MLA and senior leader Mohd Syed Akhoon, saying that criticism emerging from within the political circles associated with the NC exposes the hollowness of its claims. Akhoon had stated that the manifesto was being framed with ill intentions of not fulfilling the promises and recalled that warnings had already been given about their implementation.
Billawaria said this raises a fundamental question for Omar Abdullah: Why were promises made to the people if the NC had no intention or preparedness to fulfil them?
Referring to the September 2 protest in Kashmir, he said the participation of people from different sections of civil society reflects the widening public anger against the government's failures. “This is no longer merely BJP versus NC. The people's disappointment is speaking for itself,” he said.
Billawaria asserted that an electoral mandate is a responsibility, not a license to deceive the electorate. He said BJP workers and elected representatives will intensify their public outreach to expose the NC government's failures and ensure that every broken promise is brought before the people.
“The NC sought votes in the name of promises and is now governing in the name of excuses. The people of J&K deserve answers, accountability and delivery, not deception,” Billawaria said.
