Omar led Govt Committed to Development of Far-Flung Areas of Doda: Surinder Choudhary

Thathri, Doda September 14 (KIP)-The Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to ensuring equitable development across Jammu and Kashmir, with special emphasis on the far-flung and remote areas of Doda district, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said while addressing a workers’ meeting at Thathri today.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that people living in remote and difficult-to-reach areas should not be deprived of basic amenities and developmental opportunities. He assured the gathering that the government would accord priority to developmental works in the far-flung areas of Doda and take necessary steps to address the genuine concerns of the people.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Advocate and Provincial President, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the programme.
During the meeting, Khalid Najeeb Suharwady, Vice Provincial President, JKNC, highlighted various problems and difficulties being faced by the people of the area, particularly with regard to development and public services.
Taking note of the issues raised during the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities for appropriate action. He assured the party workers that the concerns of the people would be taken up on priority and that developmental activities in the remote areas of Doda would receive due attention.
Choudhary said the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narender Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are not fulfilling their promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding Restoration of Statehood which causes less funding to Jammu and Kashmir because of UT.
Addressing the gathering, Rattan Lal Gupta said that the far-flung areas of Doda remained neglected during the regime of LG administration, He said that the Omar Abdullah-led government has adopted a different approach by giving special attention to developmental works and the problems of people living in remote areas.
Gupta called upon party workers to strengthen their connect with the people and reach their doorsteps to understand their problems and grievances. He urged the workers to act as a bridge between the people and the government and make sincere efforts to get their genuine issues resolved. Mr Gupta assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that promises made in Party Manifesto will be fulfilled within the tenure of Omar led Government.
The leaders reiterated their commitment to ensuring balanced development, improving public services and addressing the genuine concerns of people residing in the remote and far-flung areas of Doda district.

September 14th, 2026: ACB J&K traps and arrests 02 Field officers of J&K Women’s Development Corporation for demanding and accepting bribe
Anti-Corruption Bureau received a written complaint alleging that Owais Ahamd Khan, a Field Supervisor of the Jammu & Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) had demanded illegal gratification from the complainant for facilitating the release/disbursement of a sanctioned loan amount of Rs. 3.00 lakh under the WEP (Women Entrepreneurship Platform) Scheme.
As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, thus approached the ACB and lodged a written complaint. Upon receipt of the complaint, the allegations were verified and the verification prima facie established the demand of illegal gratification. Accordingly, Case FIR No. 15/2026 under Section 7, Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 & Section 61(2) BNS, was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar, and investigation was taken up.
A trap team was constituted to lay a trap. During the trap proceedings, the accused public servant, namely Owais Ahmad Khan, Field Supervisor, JKWDC, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification from the complainant in lieu of facilitating the release/disbursement of the sanctioned loan amount of Rs. 3.00 lakh.
During the course of the trap proceedings, another public servant, namely Meiraj- ud-din Sheikh, Field Supervisor, was also arrested on spot for his alleged involvement in the commission of the offence. The exact role and involvement of the said accused is being ascertained during investigation.
The tainted bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused in the presence of independent witnesses. Both accused persons were subjected to medico-legal formalities and have been lodged in Police Station Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, for safe custody. Further investigation in the case is in progress.
